From the shea tree
to your hands — nothing skipped.
Every batch of KOFIAA starts at the source. Here is exactly how it gets to you, and what your purchase makes possible along the way.
The Shea Tree
West Africa is home to some of the world's oldest shea trees. The nuts are handpicked by local cooperatives — no industrial harvesting, no shortcuts. The region's climate and ancient soil produce shea with an extraordinary nutrient density found nowhere else on earth.
The Process
Shea butter is extracted using a traditional method passed down through generations. It takes roughly 20 hours of labor to produce one kilogram of finished shea butter. That labor belongs to the women who have always known how to do this — and who deserve to be paid accordingly.
The Cooperative
KOFIAA sources directly from women-led cooperatives in Northern Ghana. Direct sourcing means fair prices, better livelihoods, and no middlemen taking a cut. The relationship is ongoing — every restock strengthens the cooperative, not just the product.

Our ingredients are sourced from communities whose knowledge and craftsmanship have been passed down through generations. Through every purchase, we help support education initiatives in underserved communities — beginning with the regions connected to our sourcing journey and growing wherever support is needed most. Each KOFIAA product carries a QR code that allows customers to follow that impact journey and become part of it.
The Education Initiative
Education is the longest-lasting

KOFIAA partners with local education organizations in West Africa to fund school supplies, infrastructure, and teacher training. Every sale is a direct contribution — not a donation round-up, not a percentage at year-end.
